“Glenn’s cousin Rick and Brenda Persinger attended the 2022 Jackson Brigade Reunion and hosted an evening dinner for the group.” Ed Clark
Glenn Richard Persinger 83, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away unexpectedly December 5, 2024. Glenn was born December 22, 1940, to George Fredrick and Ruby Mabel Esther (Howard) Persinger in Kirbyville, Missouri eventually moving to Branson, MO graduating high school in 1958. Glenn was a member of the famous varsity basketball team in 1958 winning the State Championships playing guard and forward positions. This was quite an achievement for such a small community at this time. He received a scholarship to the University of Missouri for his basketball accomplishments; however, he was unable to play following an industrial accident. This did not deter him. He attended the University receiving a civil engineering degree in 1962.
Glenn began his career in the telecommunication field for Missouri State Telephone Company. He rose quickly from pole and line maintenance to other areas of the many companies he was transferred to. He was district manager of several different phone branches throughout Missouri, Arkansas, New Mexico, and California. He then started a new path contracting independently while learning the new field of Fiber Optics which would bring him to Egypt, Saipan, and eventually Oahu, Hawaii.
Sailing was his passion when he settled for 18 years in Honolulu. The name of his sailboat was “This will do and That is That”. He was an expert night sailor able to view the beautiful lights of Waikiki.
Another new beginning for him was Project Manager of PCS Communications, designing underground Fiber Optics in Tampa, Florida for Verizon and AT&T.
Glenn will always be remembered for his kindness, friendships, mentoring, quick wit, and of course a fantastic singing voice. The “Karaoke King” he was.
He is survived by his wife Sally (Kennedy), son Gary (Tammy), of Longview, Texas, Brent (Natalie) of Hot Springs, AR, cousin Rick and Brenda of Cedar Creek, MO, and several niece nephews, grand and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ruby, Uncle Truman and Aunt Agnes Persinger, brother Willard, and Gordon and his precious daughter Leslie. ALOHA our loving friend.
