My commentary on the reunion is below.
The 2022 Jackson Brigade Reunion was held in Taney County Missouri August 4-6. Approximately 30 members attended. On Thursday (Aug 4) attendees were welcomed as they checked in at the Taney Center. This community building worked well as our central meeting place. Many took an afternoon dinner cruise on the Branson Belle on Lake Taneycomo. Everyone has a great time on the cruise.

On Friday our historical society speaker could not make it, so we had informal group discussions. After a lunch prepared by Bonnie Melton & family we drove to the Coble Cemetery where Charles Lewis Persinger and Elizabeth Catherine Jackson are buried. Later in the day everyone met at Rick and Brenda Persinger’s home on the bluff above Bull Shoals Lake for a smoked chicken dinner. The view was spectacular. Thank you Rick and Brenda for being gracious hosts.

On Saturday we had the business meeting, ate lunch, and finished with the Memorial service. During the business meeting, Don confirmed that Jackson Brigade Corporation’s finances are more than adequate to cover ongoing expenses. The Jackson Brigade website, our reputation for accurate research, and the collective knowledge within the Brigade is our strength. I asked everyone to make sure we collect and pass on family information from our older family members. Label your photos and documents, scan them as needed, and share with your siblings and children.
*
In conclusion, the 2022 Jackson Brigade Reunion was a success thanks to the planning and efforts of Bonnie Melton and her extended family. The food, pies, and cakes were excellent. No one left hungry! Thank you Bonnie! I was encouraged that many of this core group of Persinger-Jackson descendants were energized about the possibility of coming back to WV in 2024. Our issue, the members who organized WV & OH reunions the last 20+ years are not able to shoulder the load. We will work through options in the coming months.

As the new president of the Jackson Brigade I ask that everyone (including me) reach out to our siblings and cousins to spark interest in becoming a Jackson Brigade Corporation member (only $10!). Send an email to eddclark05@gmail.com with your ideas on what you would like to see on the website and other suggestions. The Board will review your ideas. Our challenge is to keep the Jackson Brigade relevant to the needs of our current and future membership. With input from the everyone we will adjust and succeed.*
